Markfield Jan 2009

Jan 31st saw the Covert Misfits starter team head off to Markfield for their first competition of 2009.

The team consisted of Denise and old man Sy, Karen and Misty, Dawn and Chilli, Lesley and old gal Rommi, and drafted in at the last minute was Mavis and Alfie, who had only been to 5 training sessions.

Our team got entered at the last minute due to a change of venue as Rotherham's ground had become bogged down, so we were pleased to be able to get a starter team together.

The first race of the day saw Mavis getting very nervous with this being her first flyball experience, luckily Alfie never let her down. The misfits ran very well winning the first race of the day.

Unfortunatly after a good start we just weren't fast enough and we lost the second race of the day.

All the team then got together for a good gossip and cream bun and coffee on the cafe until lunch time when the singles and pairs competition took place.

Denise entered Shae and Shirley entered Jay into the singles competition, both did very well just loosing out on a placed rosette.

Sam got roped into running pairs with Denise and Shae, and they got an excellent time of 9.50 seconds.

The early afternoon saw the team running the second half of their division, and again all ran very well. The old timers struggled with the yellow and red balls as they couldn't see them so we swapped them to plain yellow balls and they were fine. Misty, Chilli and Alfie ran brilliantly all afternoon.

The end result was 2 won, 2 lost with us ending up in 3rd place.

Well done to all who competed, and a special thanks to Shirley for helping run the team and catch mad Alfie!!
